"Mermaids Tears"

It's wonderful having girlfriends that have summer homes on Prince Edward Island. As they walk along the pristine beaches watching the sun rise and the sun set they keep an eye on the sand for these beautiful gems of the sea. It's such a thrill for me to be handed a plastic container and open it to find it packed full of these gorgeous stones. I've been wire wrapping them and adding them to the spoon bracelets and have saved the larger ones as focal pieces for necklaces. Thanks Amy, Alanna, Leah and especially Andy for being my biggest supporters!

Fork Fish Necklaces

I was at Beachfest 1 in Beach Haven, LBI, New Jersey yesterday, it was a gorgeous day, very hot and very busy. This lovely lady purchased one of my new fork fish necklaces and put it on right away. I love when I have a walking advertisement for my work. I guess I will have to make many more before my next show, these all sold right away. everyone has a different opinion of what they look like, octopus, jellyfish, anemone, so it can be what ever you want it to be. I love them!!!

Vintage Slotted Spoons

There were many uses back in the day for slotted spoons, your butler would serve your tomato slices to you on the spoon or he would serve bon bons to your guests on one. The smaller slotted spoons were used for relish or jam. I, of course think they are too pretty to be used for those things and who has a butler these days anyway, right? So I like to turn them into statement pieces. My favorite is the 3rd from the left made by William Rogers in 1934.

"Go Fish"

I have always thought that the spoon bowls reminded me of fish so I spend many hours with a mini handheld circular saw cutting mouths and tails and drilling eyes. These are my windchimes, they make a wonderful tinkling sound and are just so cute. Perfect to hang on your deck or in your garden or at your beach house!  

"JUBILEE"

This bracelet is made from a pattern called "Jubilee" made by the William Rogers Manufacturing Company in 1953. Spring is coming and this lovely bracelet reminds me of the flowers that will soon be blooming.

 

 

COUNTRY FOLK ART

The Country Folk Art Shows are held in New Jersey four times a year at the NJ Convention Center in Edison. I did the three day show this past weekend, it was my first time at this venue and it was quite nice. I met so many new people. I sold out of Coronation.That has been  my biggest seller, now the hunt is on for more of that pattern. The promoters of this show are very nice and very well organized, this is a keeper, I look forward to their next show!

THREE RINGS

I love when I find silverware that has a squared off top, then I feel that the bracelet needs three rings to connect the two pieces. These three patterns were perfect. The one on the left is called "RIO" made in 1930 by William A. Rogers. The one on the right is called "ROMFORD" made in 1939 by a company called Vernon that was taken over by Oneida and the one in the middle on the top is called "PARIS" and was made in 1921 by the William Brothers Manufacturing company. I love them all and they look wonderful on!
